Pre-Debut
Born in Le Raincy and raised in Gagny, he grew up in a working-class household: his father was a French electrician and his mother a Spanish immigrant who worked as a cleaning lady. His father died when he was 17, a loss he has described as profoundly shaping his outlook. He enrolled in university to study physical education, with the intention of becoming a P.E. teacher. In 1997, while still a student, he responded to an advertisement in a French adult magazine and filmed his first hardcore scene.
He chose the stage name “Ferrara” because acquaintances told him he resembled French boxer-turned-actor Stéphane Ferrara.
Career as a Performer
After his 1997 debut, he built his early career through French and European productions before coming under the mentorship of Rocco Siffredi, who helped him expand internationally. In 2002, he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue the American market. That same year, he appeared in Snoop Dogg’s documentary film “Hustlaz: Diary of a Pimp.”
His American career accelerated rapidly. He won his first AVN Male Performer of the Year award in 2004 and went on to win it five more times — in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, and once more after that — setting a record that remains unmatched.
